Why did no one ever tell me that you can make your own brown sugar and that it makes everything taste better?!
There are only two ingredients: granulated sugar + molasses = mind absolutely blown.
Finally! Something to use my 16oz jar of molasses for. How do you make it? You literally put them in a bowl, and using an electric mixer, beat them until they look like brown sugar. It takes a few minutes so be patient. You might need to pause the mixer and use your fingers to mash some of the lumps up, and then keep mixing. (You also might not need to do this. I did because I lost one of my mixer beaters when we moved, so I only have one beater, which, as I can attest makes this kitchen tool 50% less effective! Lol.)
What can you do with this fresh & fluffy brown sugar? Use it in cookies. Use it in glazes. Eat spoonfuls of it. Whatever you like! It is little tricks like these, that make all the difference in a recipe. That make people say the cookies are delicious, but they can’t put their finger on why.
- 1 Tbsp molasses
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Measure ingredients and put them both in a medium sized bowl.
- Using your electric mixer, mix then for 3-7 minutes, whatever it takes, for them to combine into brown sugar.
- This is very easy: if it doesn't look like brown sugar from a bag, keep mixing! When it does, you are done.
